Skeptics often doubt the reliability of the Bible, not because it lacks historical foundation or archaeological verification, but because it was written by “sand-strewn men and women who thought the earth was flat”. Of course, this presumes that the Bible actually contains misinformation about the nature of the planet and that the purpose of the Bible was to provide scientific information in the first place.
But if we consider the true purpose of the Scripture (to communicate the holy nature of God , the fallen, needy nature of man and the relationship between God and His Creation), it shouldn’t surprise us that all kinds of otherwise unrelated matters would fail to appear on the Biblical pages. There are many aspects of life and of our environment that remain unexplained by the authors of the Bible. Does this invalidate it entirely?
Does the Bible contain contradictions? Is it inconsistent with science? This section of Answers4Atheists.com provides a variety of very brief responses to objections related to the reliability of the Bible (check the menu on the left). Please return often as our catalogue continues to grow.
